Note: mywork.clystvale.org has changed to remote.clystvale.org (from Friday 10th February 2023)
(mywork.clystvale.org will still be available for some specified student users after this date for a limited period)
There are times when access to our system is needed to either print files from your S: My Documents from untrusted devices or access file shares on the network for staff and students where OneDrive and Teams files are not being used. Using OneDrive to store files reduces the need to access this remote system for most users as email, teams, OneDrive can be accessed from any computer, anywhere in the world. But if you do need to access files, please follow the instructions below.
Note: There is no sound on this remote system, so if you want to access videos, youtube, or sounds from Powerpoint, save files to your OneDrive, then access these directly from your computer, rather than this remote access system. (You can login to your email, OneDrive, then copy and paste files to your OneDrive)
To connect from home using your home computer, or provided laptop, or to access the network from an untrusted device within the College (ie not provided by Clyst Vale), you can either download the RDP remote file which already has the configurations set, or set your RDP app manually.
1) Connecting automatically (recommended)
2) Printing from remote connections
3) Connecting manually and troubleshooting connections
1) Connecting automatically (recommended)
-Download the file - click here to download the remote.rdp attachment
-Open the file
Your username can be input as your College email address YourUserName@clystvale.org (recommended) or clystvale\YourUsername
Once downloaded, the remote.rdp file is usually saved into your Downloads folder. You should run the file to start the connection. You can also save this file to your desktop to save downloading it every time you need access. (Right click > Send to > Desktop (create shortcut))
2) Printing from remote connections
It is not feasible to add all College printers, for security reasons as well, so a number of printers have been added which are queued and can be released within 24 hours of sending to print (otherwise they are deleted with no charge.)
